The MDaudit team was recently able to sit down with Shirley Grissom, CPC, CPMA, MCS-P at the University of North Texas Health Science Center to learn more about how she and her team are using MDaudit and what they like about it.
How would you describe the value that MDaudit Enterprise delivers?
The overall value of MDaudit Enterprise is in the ability to collaborate and have the revenue cycle team, providers, auditors, and everybody on the same page. When you are looking at an audit, everybody has their own interpretation. But there aren’t that many different interpretations when you’re doing an audit through MDaudit Enterprise.
How does the MDaudit team support you in your overall goals?
The MDaudit support team is right there for you, no matter what. No question is stupid. They are going to make you feel like you’ve asked the most intelligent question there is, and they just make you feel that they’re here for you. If they don’t know the answer, they don’t try and sugarcoat it. They say, “I’m going to write this one down and I’m going to get back with you.” And they do. You get an email within a few days. The support is there. I can’t express it any better, except that support is there.
Who across your organization benefits from MDaudit Enterprise and how?
The people that benefit from the MDaudit Enterprise are the auditors, the coders, the providers, the revenue cycle team, the board members, and the compliance team because it makes following the OIG compliance work plan for auditing and monitoring simple.
In what ways does MDaudit Enterprise scale to meet the needs of an organization of your size in particular?
In 2005, we had over 300 providers, and we did quarterly audits. Our organization has become smaller in the past couple of years, so now we’re able to do annual audits on everyone and then additionally do focused audits. So, no matter what kind of structure you have for your organization, it’s going to meet those needs.
How have MDaudit Enterprise’s integrated workflows and automated data ingestion impacted you and your team?
MDaudit’s methodology was a changing point for our organization. We were able to see that we needed to be on a one-on-one basis with our providers, not constantly putting them in a dynamic group.
Plus, every auditor learns differently and MDaudit Enterprise has met that with its learning modules and documentation.
The same with providers — they need a different type of structure. MDaudit Enterprise allows us to give them any type of report that they want. If we structure it in one way and they say, “I really would rather have this,” we’re able to go in and adjust a report quickly.
Anything you’d like to add?
I’ve been with MDaudit since 2013, and I still have that sense of importance. It doesn’t matter if you’re a large organization or a small one, you’re important. The focus is not on what MDaudit might get out of the relationship, it’s on what they want their customer to get out of it. We do we feel that, and we appreciate it.
